Prevocational Training

Services offering educational and work opportunities, including volunteer work, are designed to equip individuals with general skills and strengths essential for employment in integrated community settings. These services encompass training in various areas such as effective communication with supervisors, colleagues, and customers, adhering to community workplace norms and attire, following instructions, task attention, workplace problem-solving, and safety practices. Prevocational Training aims to prepare
participants for competitive employment in the community, where they receive compensation equal to or above the minimum wage, comparable to what individuals without disabilities earn for similar work. It is a time-limited service with specific goals, not to be conducted in sheltered workshops. These supports are provided in-person, either one-on-one or in small groups ranging from two to eight participants.
