Supported Employment

Activities are necessary to assist a participant in securing and retaining an individual job in competitive or customized employment, or self-employment, within an inclusive work environment in the general workforce. The compensation should meet or exceed the minimum wage and be comparable to what individuals without disabilities receive for similar work in terms of wages and benefits. Initially, the service may be provided
intensively to support the participant, particularly if their disability makes it challenging for them to maintain employment without assistance. During this intensive phase, support is provided face-to-face, on a one-on-one basis.

Additionally, the service may continue on a less intensive, ongoing basis ("follow along"), where support is offered either in-person or by phone to the participant and/or their employer. Services are personalized and may include various elements such as job development, discovery, training, systematic instruction, job coaching, assistance with benefits, travel training, and other workplace support services. These services extend beyond job-specific training and aim to facilitate the participant's successful integration into the workplace environment.
